I have always had a deep admiration for a horror genre, be it a film or a book.
My teen years I spent watching endless slasher movies and series. At that point it was not even about enjoying the visuals or admiring the storyline, I simply needed to get some kick for my ADHD brain to start functioning again and get my homework done. Either that or endless hours of playing Sims 2 or 3, whichever was available at that time.
On a second thought…
My admiration for the genre might have started when I was only five…
I was told by my parents that one day, when Aliens movie was on TV, I was literally glued to the screen and would refuse to move away no matter how hard anyone tried.
So yes.
That is probably when it all started.
About Stephen King I first heard from a movie, I think it was Pet Semetary that I watched first, and then it only gained speed. Movies, books and rewatching movies again, re-reading book.
- Shining
- IT
- Carrie
- Salem’s Lot
- Misery
- Outsider
- Institute
And so many more that have been read, and few more are already in plans for re-reads this fall.
And with Stephen King, I am not just watching absent-mindedly, I really enjoy the storylines and the images that he creates have that effect of living rent-free in your brain. The one that stayed with me especially long was the one after reading ”IT” with the fire in Black Spot…If you know that part, you might also be able to relate to it. That was rather impressive for me.
So, long answer short – I would be really excited to meet and dine with Stephen King! Are there any more horror enthusiasts out there?
