Daily writing prompt
What’s the best thing you’ve ever found randomly on the street?

So, perhaps now that I am a grown-up, it is not such a random find. But rather a very well planned and planted one. By my parents. But it still brings lots of most positive memories.

It happened when I was very little. Perhaps four or five years old. At that time we would visit my grandmother and great-grandmother in our village. I remember those times only in blurrly flashes – but this particular moment so vividly.

We were returning from the village hospital, visiting somebody. Our way back took us right at the edge of a forest. One of those forests you can smell from far away. Even now, writing those lines, I can almost feel that smell of pine trees and hear the sound of wind moving the pine needles and rabbits running in the dried summer grass.

And right next to one of the pine trees, right at the bottom of it, was a small piece of chocolate wrapped in the shiny wrapper. As a child, I was beaming with excitement. I was so happy running around showing it to my mom and dad. Every time we went on that road, I found some chocolate.

A ”small present from a bunny” my mom and dad used to call this little find. And it seemed so random and so crazy that a bunny would leave these gifts for me. And I would be so happy.

Now that my dad passed a way, and my mum lives in Ukraine, and every day I am super worried about her, I cherish those very special memories of ”tiny random finds”. And hope to do something like that for my children, to create such memories, that will last a lifetime.

I absolutely love this. How neat that your parents did this one time and for them to continue to do this is just super special. I can picture the forest from your wonderful description. Thank you for the words.
